STEMNET recently issued a call for judges to all registered STEM Ambassadors. The response and support for the STEM Challenges has been phenomenal and requests are still coming in every day.
We would like to thank all volunteer judges so far and assure you that we will reply to all offers of help, but it may take a little longer than usual, due to the volume of emails.
It is not too late to volunteer as a judge. You must be a registered STEM Ambassador - we will check this and ensure that your CRB clearance is up to date. If you are not, then you will need to register first by going to the STEM Ambassadors pages on the STEMNET website. Once your are registered, simply send an email to judges@stemchallenges.net expressing your interest and we will get in touch. All judges will receive training, which will take no more than a coupe of hours. The actual judging time commitment will be an afternoon in a school, meeting the team(s), seeing their work and asking questions about what they have done. It is a great way to make contact with enthusiastic pupils and link to a local school.
We will place judges into local schools where it is practically possible and will thus aim to keep travelling time to a minimum.
STEM Ambassadors can also get involved by encouraging their local secondary school to get involved in the STEM Challenges and support a team as they work. If you would like to do this, then you should speak to your local STEMNET contact. You could act as a professional consultant, a mentor or a friendly advisor. The challenge for you will be not getting too involved!
