What was your favourite subject at school and why?

Design and technology. I loved technical drawing and making things in the workshop.

What did you want to be when you were at school?

An architect.

So, you managed to realise your ambition! What does your job involve?

Listening to clients' dreams and putting them into a three dimensional ideas. These ideas are then developed into clear diagrams and drawings to enable buildings to be built.

What's the most exciting thing that has ever happened to you in your job?

I got to go to Beijing to see the Paralympics as research for the handball venue, all paid for by my work!

How would you sell your job to a 14 year old?

Architecture is potentially the most expressive form of art/sculpture. It is everywhere. Visiting buildings which you have designed and built is very cool especially when you consider the number of people who visit, use, walk past and enjoy it everyday.

Since working on the Olympics what's the biggest challenge you've had to face?

Creating a building that meets the needs for the next 30+ years of its life. It needs to be able to serve the local community as well as being suitable for the Games.

What's your biggest passion in life outside work?

I love playing and watching sport. I am also very competitive!!

I ran the London Marathon in 3hours 50mins raising £3000 for charity.
